Minutes of the January 25, 2010 Meeting
Chairman, Brian Heun, called the meeting to order at 7:40 PM on Monday evening, January 25, 2010 at Uno restaurant in Mt. Laurel, NJ.
Brian started off by stating that this is the kickoff meeting for the 2010 race season and would like those who are the chiefs of specialty to identify themselves along with their second in command. Those individuals should get with Brian so that he can put together a list of those chiefs. The drivers school and PDX in March will be covered in this meeting. Also, the 12 hour in June will be touched here this evening with the next meeting being geared toward a more in depth coverage on the 12 hour.
Drivers School - Brian stated that we did it last year and we did it well. He felt that the PDX, last year, was not as good as it should have been. We now have Mike Allenbaugh to run that aspect of the drivers school weekend this year. Brian noted that DC Region is running their drivers school (which is a double school) the weekend before our school. Terry stated, that as an historical perspective, we ran against their school last year and we were still able to have a reasonable attendance at our school. Under race administration, Terry went over some preparatory items in that the PDX will be a two (2) day event He will work with Mike to get a schedule together for the PDX event. Terry has put together a preliminary supplemental regulation for this weekend. The sanction has been applied for and the ordering of insurance is in progress. Entry will be put online. Under drivers school operation is was noted that Butch O'Connor will be the chief instructor for the drivers school. Terry is working on the school curriculum and the instructor duties. The recruitment of instructors is being done. Under PDX operations, Mike pointed out that the tech sheet can be filled out by the entrant or the entrants mechanic. This form is being incorporated in the entry form. Dave Hess and Eric Harding will be helping Mike with the tech duties. Brian pointed out that a medical may be required for the PDX. Terry stated that club racing does not require a medical any more. We may have to look into this requirement. The entry fee for the PDX will be $200.00 for one day and $350.00 for two days. Mike pointed out that he does not have the proper credentials for running a PDX and Terry will talk with Matt Green about what the requirements are for Mike. Under hospitality J.D. said that he has made contact for worker lunches. Dan Zane stated that his brother, Keith, has volunteered to be our cook for the Saturday evening hospitality parties. Keith stated that he would like the committee consider the purchase of a large commercial size grill, which is foldable, for our Saturday evening hospitality parties. J.D. made a motion that we purchase such a grill for no more than $400.00. Second by Meg. Motion carried. (the preceding motion was by the SJR BOD members present, which did represent a quorum) Keith will follow up and get back to the committee on the cost. Under communications, Dan and Craig will be in contact with Sync Speed for our needs. Craig would like the Board of Directors for the Region to consider the purchase of a container to be stored at NJMP for our equipment. Sue has one sitting on her farm not being used. J.D. will check with NJMP as to placing the container at the track. Under registration, Val would like registration to be in the classroom, although the classroom at Lightning will be used for the school. J.D. and Sue will look into maybe getting a job trailer, similar to those used on construction sites, for registration. Under tech, we need a chief. Brian, Terry and J.D. will reach out to our tech people for this position. Under timing and scoring, Jack will reach out to Linda Louie. It was pointed out that no timing will be performed for the PDX.
