BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
South Jersey Region-Sports Car Club of America, Inc.
The October 2010 meeting of the Board of Directors for the South Jersey Region of the Sports Car Club of America was held at the home of Brian Huen on Wednesday evening, October 6, 2010. The meeting was called or order by R.E., Jim Tornetta at 8:25 PM.
Present were: Jim Tornetta, J.D. King, Jim Wakemen, Meg Meyer, Brian Huen, Craig Robson and Sue King. Guest was Valerie Huen.
Membership - Meg reported that we have 390 paid members to date.
Treasury - Craig reported that there is $52,233.00 in the race account and $1,915.00 in the general account.
Rally - Jim Wakemen stated that the next events will be the Witch Way Rallys to be held October 16 & 17, 2010 with the start at JG Cooks. He also advised the Board that the USRRC (United States Road Rally Challenge) will be held on October 23 & 24, 2010 and this is being put on by the DC Region. The PBX (Pine Barrens Express) is coming along and the date for that is November 20th. Jim is recruiting for workers to man checkpoints, etc. We should be posting this in At Speed.
Solo - Craig reported on the last event that was held in September. There was a significant loss of money - missing approximately $200. He felt that not all the entry fees were collected. At this last event we did not have wrist bands to identify the entrant. He discussed the winter series to be held at NJMP on the Lightning circuit. This series will be held on the first Saturday of each month - December, January & March. The February event will be held on the second Saturday. The track approached us about doing it again this year as they felt that last year was successful. This will be for novice and pro groups. It was discussed that we should do the novice only group - this could be used as a teaching tool for Solo. It was felt that we could leave the truck at the track. J.D. raised the subject of a designer wrap for the Solo truck. He will check into the cost. Craig spoke about scheduling for next year and a possible new site - Stratford on Rt. 30. He made contact with the property manager and will follow up on this. Craig informed the Board that the Northeast Divisional will be held at the Meadowlands in 2011 and we were approached to see if we would be interested in putting it on. The Board felt that we should consider it as long as there is no conflict with our schedule and we could muster sufficient personnel to put it on. There was also a discussion on staging rally cross events with a possible venue of NJMP.
Club Racing - Discussion centered on NNJR participation at the race events held at NJMP. Jim T. stated that he has not gotten any response from the region to recruit their members to come and help with putting on the events. We should think about how we can help motivate them to participate in a greater degree.-->
Old Business - Brian went over information about our deposit with NJMP. The track has acknowledged, by correspondence, that they have our $10,000.00 which will be applied toward our October event. Discussion followed about this deposit being applied to our events for next year.
New Business -J.D. went over the information about the region's banquet which will be held in January. The Board decided that January 22, 2011 will be the date. This will be a buffet arrangement which will cost $45 per person. The menu was gone over and decided. J.D. will negotiate with NJMP about the bar arrangements. He reminded all that the Pro IT awards and the JRRC awards will be presented that evening.>
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9 PM.
