BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
South Jersey Region-Sports Car Club of America, Inc.
The November 2009 meeting of the Board of Directors for the South Jersey Region of the Sports Car Club of America, Inc. was held at the home of Brian Heun on Wednesday evening, November 4, 2009. The meeting was called to order by R.E. Jim Tornetta at 8:15 PM.
Present were: Jim Tornetta, Sue King, Mike Allenbaugh, Brian Heun, Bob Childress and Meg Meyer. Guest was Valerie Heun.
Meg reported on the elections stating that John Borden had decided not to run for the Board and had withdrawn his petition leaving Meg Meyer, Mike Allenbaugh and Craig Robson to fill the three seats for the Board.
Solo - Mike reported that at the last event held on October 25th there were 39 entrants. Craig Robson did the course design and each competitor got eight runs. Brian reported that we will be holding a winter series at NJMP and the first event is scheduled for December 6th. This series will be held by NJMP with our help and timing equipment. The entry fee will be $35 and there will be a total of four events in the series. We will do the registration, etc. The track will make a donation of a portion of the proceeds to our favorite charity. When this donation is made-at the last event of the series-the media will be invited to promote our region and the track. The track has their Coats for Children campaign and a portion of the first event will go to that charity. We will probably supply an EMT instead of using Millville Rescue. Meg made a motion to negotiate with the track to have them pay the region $150 for the use of our equipment, second by Mike. Motion carried. Brian will do the negotiating. Brian will also ask the track if we can store the solo trailer at the track during the running of this series. Our almost new truck has been purchased, the insurance is in place and it will be transported to Jim's shop for a good going over-new paint, etc.
Rally - Jim reported that the Pine Barrens Express will be held November 21st. He is not sure that it will be run next year and because of this the Wakemen's are interested in taking it over for next year.
Mini-Con - Meg, Sue and Terry will be attending the Mini-Con this year which is being hosted by Steel Cities Region in the City of Pittsburgh. It is anticipated that there will be much discussion on the 2010 schedule.
Banquet - It has been decided that this year's banquet will be held at
NJMP. The date is January 30, 2010. The menu has been selected and the cost for this event will be $20.
There will be a cash bar. We will check to see if the suites at the track are available for those coming
a long distance if they should want to stay over and what the cost would be.
Discussion centered on resurrecting the region mug and making presentations at the January banquet.
Membership - Meg reported that we have 362 paid members.
Treasury - Sue reported that we have $4,000 in the operating account and $30,000 in the race account.
Old Business - None.
New Business - Meg reported on the cost for new timing equipment. She stated that cost for two decoders and licensing fees would probably be in the neighborhood of $10,309.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9PM.
