August 2009

The August 2009 meeting of the Board of Directors for the South Jersey Region of the Sports Car Club of America, Inc. was held at the home of Sue King on Wednesday evening, August 4, 2009. The meeting was called to order by R.E., Jim Tornetta at 8PM.

Present were: Jim Tornetta, Brian Heun, Mike Allenbaugh, J.D. King, Jim Wakemen, Bob Childress, Meg Meyer and Sue King. Guests were: Val Heun, Craig Robson, Mike DeFlorio, Chris Houliarras and Ahren Ciotti.

Solo - Brian asked Craig Robson, Mike DeFlorio, Chris Houliarras and Ahren Ciotti to introduce themselves and give some background on their solo careers. Craig and Ahren will co-chair the Solo Committee with Mike taking on worker assignments and Chris taking on the timing and scoring segment. Brian reported on the June 26th event that had 47 entrants who each got 7 runs. The next event will be held August 16th at Camden County College. A discount for first timers at this event will be given to be used toward the September event. Brian put this in the form of a motion which was seconded by Meg and the motion carried. Aaron put forth some ideas that he and his committee would like to put into practice next year. Once the committee has finalized these, they will bring them back to the board for their input and approval.

Rally - Jim Wakemen reported on the 'Picture This' event which had a decent turnout. The next event is the 'Read the Fantastic Manual Rally' to be held August 9th. One of the National rallies will be a photo contest event. There will be a tour rally on September 19th - 'Summers End' and October 4th. Jim spoke about using electronic recording at the checkpoints.

Membership - Meg reported that we have 350 paid members to date.

Trearurer - No Report.

Competition - J.D. reported on the July event at NJMP - Lightning course. It was very well subscribed with the MARRS/NARRC challenge. The general feeling of the competitors was that they felt that it was a well run event and they seemed to enjoy their time on the course.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9PM.
