South Jersey Region-Sports Car Club of America, Inc.

July 2009

The July 2009 meeting of the Board of Directors for the South Jersey Region of the Sports Car Club of America, Inc. was held at the home of Brian Heun on Wednesday evening, July 1, 2009. The meeting was called to order by R.E., Jim Tornetta at 8:35 PM.

Present were: Jim Tornetta, John Borden, Jim Wakemen, Meg Meyer, Bob Childress, Brian Heun and Sue King. Guest was Valerie Heun.

Solo - Brian reported on the June event held at Camden County College. There were 42 entrants and Brian felt that we probably broke even on this event. July 26th is the next event at the college. Brian reported that an entrant who is from Texas approached Brian about being a co-chair - unfortunately Brian did not get his name. Brian did state that Mike Allenbaugh did get his business card. So-guy from Texas, if you are out there, please contact Brian. Aaron Ciotti has taken on the position of co-chairman and he is in training to take on this responsibility. The timing lights did take a hit but, thanks to Val's super conduit system, they did survive.

Rally - Jim Wakemen reported on the June 20th event which only had 5 entrants and managed to make a couple of dollars. This was a Saturday night event and Jim was at a loss as to why more folks did not come out. The next event is July 19th, Picture This. August 9th and October 4th are the following events.

Membership - Meg reported that we have 368 paid members.

Trearurer - No Report.

Old Business - Sue reported that she had received an email from Jack Gallagher of the VSCCA about our workers supporting their vintage event in June at NJMP. He is looking forward to having us take part in their event next year which is scheduled for the latter part of May at NJMP. Jack mentioned that he is trying to have vintage Indy cars at their May 2010 event.

Jim reported on our National event at Thunderbolt in June and all the reports that he has received were all on the positive side. We had the highest attendance, to date, of the Nationals run in the Northeast Division. The next events are JRB events in July on Lightning and August in Thunderbolt.

Jim questioned the weekend membership and how it is applied toward membership in SCCA. Discussion followed.

New Business - None.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:00 PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Sue King
