BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
South Jersey Region-Sports Car Club of America, Inc.
The February 2009 meeting of the Board of Directors for the South Jersey Region of the Sports Car Club of America, Inc. was held at the home of John Borden on Thursday evening, February 5, 2009. The meeting was called to order by R.E., Jim Tornetta at 8:35 PM.
Present were: Mike Allenbaugh, Jim Wakemen, J.D. King, Brian Heun, John Borden, Bob Childress, Jim Tornetta Meg Meyer and Sue King. Guest was Val Heun.
Membership - Meg reported that we have 309 paid members to date.
Treasurer's Report - John reported that due to the fact that we had enough income from our racing program last year that the region will have to file a tax return. As of the end of January, John reported that the banquet had a loss of $175, much less then in previous years. There is a balance of $2,100 in the general fund and a balance of $8,816 in the race account - before the track deposit which is a floating deposit.
Rally - Jim Wakemen reported that the schedule has been set for 2009 and the regulations are done. Our first event is scheduled for March 28th and 29th. The National Rally Board has eliminated the sanction fee but has raised the car fee.
Solo - Brian reported that the first event of our joint venture with Philadelphia Region was 'fantastic'. This event was held at NJMP. The track went out of its way to correct a plumbing problem which occurred at 4AM and was fixed in time for our event. The next event is scheduled for Sunday, February 8th at Citizens Bank Park. The March 8th event will be held at NJMP. The tentative dates for our summer series at Camden County College are as follows: April 4th, May 17th, June 21st, July 26th, August 16th, September 27th, and October 25th. Brian sent these dates to the college and is waiting for their response. Jim Tornetta asked if there was any indication from the college about any increase in the lot rent. Brian has not heard. Brian has secured the license from the State.
TriRegion - Nothing to report.
NJMP - J.D. reported that Terry is putting the finishing touches on the Drivers School entry and PDX event to be held on the Lightening course on the weekend of March 21st. Val reported that she is ready to list these events on DLB. J.D. stated that we need to get this weekend up as soon as possible as he has been getting inquires from drivers. Discussion centered on if the track has been approved for PDX events. As far as we understand it is.
Old Business - Nothing to report.
New Business - Jim Tornetta reported that NJMP will be hosting a Daytona 500 party at the club house at a cost of $30 per person which includes a buffet and two free beers. David Donahue will be present. There will also be a car show and a cash bar.
