BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

South Jersey Region-Sports Car Club of America, Inc.

February 2008

The February 2008 meeting of the Board of Directors for the South Jersey Region of the Sports Car Club of America, Inc. was held at the home of Brian Heun on Thursday evening, February 7, 2008. The meeting was called to order by R.E. Jim Tornetta at 8:10 PM.

Present were: Brian Heun, Mike Allenbaugh, J.D. King, Jim Tornetta, Meg Meyer, Bob Childress and Sue King. Guest was Val Heun.

Membership - Meg reported that we have them - 235 paid members to date.

Solo - Brian reported that the dates have been posted to the web. He has started the preseason stuff. Mailed the application to the state police for the yearly license.. As an aside, Brian reported that John Borden has reached out to the state police to see what will be needed for the Millville race track. John will probably report on this at a future meeting. The contract has been signed with Camden County College - the same as it was last year in style - the college did have a concern about the cars tearing up the parking area, so they decided to increase our rental fee from $500 to $600. The college will increase the rental at the beginning of their fiscal year which is July 1. The sanction has been applied for - Mike is taking care of this. There will 9 events this year - there are no conflicts with race and/or rally dates. Discussion centered on whether we should increase the entry fee. It was felt that we should increase the entry fee for non-members to $45. Members will remain at $30. Discussion on National's weekend licensing - it is not the right thing to do. The additional $5 will be going into the national marketing fund. What good is it to the regions. Maybe it should be optional - it does have some merit. Brian will check to see what other regions are doing. Final decision on this will be made at the next Board meeting. Brian was cleaning out his garage and came across the old timing lights. He stated that our current system will not accept these timing lights. They do work but are not compatible. Maybe they should be posted on ebay. J.D. volunteered to take the lights and put them on ebay. First event will be March 30th.

Competition - J. D. reported that the region's annual tech for race cars will be held on April 12th at Sue King's house. Starts at 10:00 AM and will end at 2:00 PM.

Old Business - Jim stated that we need to re-stock the region store. Needs t-shirts; hats; GCR's; Solo regs; log books; stickers-club, tech; wrist bands; novice permits. Val stated that we need updated safety incident reports. Sue will correspond with National and order the incident reports. J.D. felt that our tech stickers should have the region logo on them.

NJMP - Jim asked J.D. about the tour of the track on Saturday, February 23rd at 11 AM. Meg wanted to know if we should have worker recruitment as a forum on the web site and make it as its own section. She was given the ok.

SJR Race Planning Committee - Jim stated that the following members will serve on this committee: David Teal, chairman and chief starter; J.D. King, track laison and race chairman; Meg Meyer, competition chair; Terry Hanushek, Stewards; Dan Zane, F & C; Mike Murphy. Tech; Alex Collins. Sound; Ray Maliszewski and Sue Marshall. EV; Jack Oliver, T&S; John Redden. Medical; Sue King, Steward and Secretary; John Borden, Bob Childress, Mike Allenbaugh and Brian Huen will serve as worker liasons; Jim Tornetta, Fay Teal and Johnny Bornholdt will serve as defacto members. There are openings for registration, grid, pit and paddock chiefs. Meg will also serve as pace car chief. Brian made a motion to accept the committee members and chiefs. Meg seconded the motion. Motion carried. Mike reported that the NASA Northeast timing and scoring chief is a Subaru guy and is very active on the Subaru web forum and Mike has contacted him about coming down to work at NJMP. J.D. suggested to Val that she may want to consider being our registrar and suggested that she contact Joyce Sinclair from the DC region about getting together to learn the aspects of registration from Joyce who is one of the best registrars in the area. J.D. reported that he is putting together a race budget and that each event will cost approximately $50G. He also stated that he is attempting to have the track rent the radios to us instead of us buying them as we will need to replace them every couple of years due to changes in technology. Meg raised the question about posting the race planning committee meeting minutes to a forum. All felt that would be a good idea as more people read forums.

JRB - J.D. stated that the next meeting of the Jersey Racing Board will be held this Saturday, February 9th, in Manahawkin.

NJMP - Jim suggested that we reach out to Dave Hess as we have not heard from him lately. The board gave Jim the go ahead to contact Dave.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:15 PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Sue King
Secretary
